Booking & Cancellation Policy, Terms & Conditions, FAQ’s

Booking

All classes must be paid for at the time of booking. Places cannot be secured until payment is made.

Cancellations

  • If you cancel more than 7 days before the class date, you will be offered a full refund or the chance to transfer your booking to an alternative class.
  • If you cancel within 1 to 7 days of the class date, you will not be eligible for a refund but your booking can be transferred to an alternative class.
  • If you cancel within 24 hours of the class, you will not be eligible for a refund but you can transfer your booking to an alternative class minus a 50% cancellation fee.

Winter weather cancellations

If you cannot attend the class due to bad weather, please don't worry - your booking will be moved to another date. Please let me know as soon as you can on 07472 325436.

If I have to cancel the class due to bad weather, I will let you know as soon as possible and you will either be offered a full refund or your booking can be transferred to another date.

Safety

Every effort will be made to ensure your safety during classes. Eye protection, dust masks and aprons will be provided. In booking a class you accept that there are potential dangers involved with jewellery making and soldering and that you will be participating in the class at your own risk. You will be expected to act in a sensible manner and must be considerate to other class participants. Any person not adhering to this rule or behaving in an inappropriate or irresponsible manner will be asked to leave immediately.

Maggie Read Jewellery accepts no liability for property loss, damage to personal belongings, or physical injury of any kind.

Disabled access

Classes are suitable for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. Please contact me to discuss before the class as some areas of the workshop are narrow and the height of the jewellery benches cannot be altered. Part of the class involves using a foot pedal but I can help if you are unable to use one. Please inform me if you require disabled access at the time of booking so I can make sure this is clear. Disabled parking is available directly outside the workshop.
An accessible toilet is available in the centre.

Are there any age restrictions?

The minimum age requirement for classes is 13 and we ask that under 16’s are accompanied with a paying parent or guardian.

Can I bring some jewellery/gemstones/metal to incorporate into my jewellery?

Unfortunately this is unlikely to be possible but please feel free to contact me before the class to check.

What is included in the class price?

Please see individual class listings but in general, all materials, the use of tools and equipment are included. Additional materials may be available to purchase should you have time to make extra pieces.
Tea/coffee/water, and cake made by our fabulous Cornhill Village Shop will be provided. Please advise of any dietary requests or allergies at the time of booking and I will try to accommodate them.

Lunch

If your class runs over lunch time, please bring a packed lunch.

What should I wear?

Silversmithing can be a messy business so please don’t wear your best clothes to class. Wear something comfortable but not too loose (fire hazzard!) and avoid sandals and open toe shoes. Please remember to bring your glasses if you wear them. Long hair must be tied back. Aprons, safety glasses and dust masks will be provided for you.

Where are you located?

The studio is located in the Cornhill on Tweed Centre, Cornhill on Tweed, Northumberland, TD12 4UE. Please enter via St Helens Gardens from the main road (map below). Parking is available in the centre grounds and the studio can be accessed through the main centre doors. The studio is located off of the main hall, second door on the left. If you need wheelchair access, please let me know in advance.
Please drive slowly through St Helens Gardens and into the centre car park as there may be children playing.

What time should I arrive for my class?

Please try to arrive 5 - 10 minutes before the start of your class so you have time to settle in. Please don’t arrive before this as I may still be setting up the studio. The class will start promptly so please try to be on time. If you are running late, please let me know on 07472 325436.

How long will the class last?

Class timings are shown on the product listings but please note that these are approximate. Classes may be longer or shorter depending on the number of participants and the skill levels. If you need to leave at a certain time, please let me know at the beginning of the class.

Do you take private/group/special occasion bookings?

Yes, I do! Jewellery classes are a great activity for friends and family so if you would like to enquire about a private group booking, please fill in the contact form here.

All classes can accommodate up to 6 people. Prices are based on 6 people in a class.

Private class information including booking and cancellation policies can be found here.

If the class is for a special occasion, a cake can be arranged at no extra cost.

Mac the workshop dog.

Mac will usually be off playing with his friends at doggy day care during classes but there may be occasions where he will be in the studio. He is very friendly but if you are allergic/scared of dogs, please let me know at the time of booking.

Do you offer class gift vouchers?

E-Vouchers and postal vouchers are available here.

Vouchers must be used within 12 months of the purchase date (the class can take place after 12 months, as long as it is booked within 6 months). If there is a balance left on the gift card (postal vouchers only. This does not apply to e-vouchers) it can be used to purchase jewellery in the studio shop (on presentation of the voucher).
