Design and make your own sterling silver spinner or “fidget” ring in a relaxed and friendly studio setting.
In this class, you’ll create a sterling silver spinner ring - also known as a fidget or meditation ring. It’s a beautifully tactile piece of jewellery made up of two or more rings in one with the outer silver or copper bands spinning around the wide silver base ring.
You’ll be guided through each step, learning a range of traditional silversmithing techniques including sizing, cutting, sawing, shaping, texturing, soldering, filing, polishing, and finishing. All tools and materials are included, and you’ll have your own bench and space to work-plus plenty of encouragement every step of the way.
Classes are kept small—up to six people—to make sure there’s plenty of one-to-one support and time for questions.
At the end of the session, you’ll leave with a silver spinner ring to take home and wear—or gift to someone special.
Who is it for?
This class is perfect for complete beginners—no previous experience is needed. The minimum age is 13, and anyone under 16 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian who’s also taking part in the class. Exceptions can sometimes be made for younger children – please get in touch with me to discuss before booking the class.
How long is the class?
The class lasts approximately 5 to 5.5 hours, including a lunch break.
Please bring along a packed lunch. Or, if you’d prefer something freshly made, the Cornhill Village Shop offers delicious filled rolls, pastries and quiches—it’s a great little spot to visit before the class begins.
Please note that class times are approximate and may run slightly over or finish a little earlier, depending on the group.
What’s included?
• Tea, coffee, water & muffins (from our fabulous local shop!)
• All tools and equipment
• Sterling silver sheet and wire to make one base ring with 3 wire spinning rings. Copper wire is also available if you would like to add an accent colour.
If you have any dietary needs or allergies, just let me know when booking and I’ll do my best to accommodate.
