Silver Clay Fingerprint Workshop - Saturday 28th June (10.30am to approx. 3pm)
Description
Make a beautiful and unique keepsake pendant in this relaxed and friendly workshop.
In this class, you’ll capture a loved one’s fingerprint in silver clay to create one beautiful silver pendant in your choice of a heart or circle shape. You’ll also make a small initial charm to accompany your fingerprint piece—something truly personal to treasure or gift.
Before the class, you’ll receive a fingerprint kit in the post, complete with full instructions and special moulding putty to take the print at home. Simply return the mould to me ahead of the class, and I’ll prepare everything for you. The kit and return postage are all included in the class cost.
If you’d like to make a second, smaller pendant featuring a different fingerprint, you can add this for an extra £30 (which includes another fingerprint kit). A separate payment link will be sent to you once your booking is confirmed.
What is metal clay? Metal clay looks and feels like clay and can be moulded, modelled, rolled and textured just like clay. The clay is made with fine particles of pure silver mixed with a non-toxic organic binder and water. After firing with a torch or kiln, the clay particles burn off leaving real pure silver. Just like magic!
Classes are kept small—just six people—to make sure there’s plenty of one-to-one support and time for questions.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your very own finished piece—ready to wear or gift to someone special.
Silver clay is a brilliant technique to learn, especially if you'd like to continue creating from home. It uses minimal tools, making it perfect for beginners and home crafters alike.
Fingerprints - things to know
• Fingerprints can be taken from children and adults but please note that children under 12 months do not have developed fingerprints so it might be better waiting until they are older.
• Some people have more defined fingerprints than others so this will affect how your finished piece will look.
• Larger prints will take up more area of the pendant.
Who is it for?
This class is perfect for complete beginners—no previous experience is needed. The minimum age is 13, and anyone under 16 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian who’s also taking part in the class. Exceptions can sometimes be made for younger children – please get in touch with me to discuss before booking the class.
How long is the class?
The class lasts approximately 4 to 4.5 hours, including a lunch break.
Please bring along a packed lunch. Or, if you’d prefer something freshly made, the Cornhill Village Shop offers delicious filled rolls, pastries and quiches—it’s a great little spot to visit before the class begins.
Please note that class times are approximate and may run slightly over or finish a little earlier, depending on the group.
What’s included?
• Tea, coffee, water & muffins (from our fabulous local shop!)
• All tools and equipment
• 7g of silver clay (or 10g if making a second pendant).
• Sterling silver jump rings for all pieces made.
• 1 sterling silver chain (16” or 18”) or 2 if making a second pendant.
If you have clay left, you can make additional charms.
If you have any dietary needs or allergies, just let me know when booking and I’ll do my best to accommodate.
