Silver Clay Fingerprint Workshop - Tuesday 22nd July (10.30am to approx. 3pm)

£95.00
6 places available
Description

In this class you'll capture a loved one's fingerprint into silver clay and make one beautiful heart or circle silver pendant. You'll also make a small initial charm to go with your fingerprint charm.

You'll be sent a fingerprint kit prior to the class with full instructions and special moulding putty so you can take the imprint and post it back to me. The kit and postage are included in the cost of the class.

If you would like to add a second smaller pendant with a different fingerprint, there is an additional cost of £30 which includes the cost of an additional fingerprint kit. You'll be sent a payment link for the additional cost after you book.

What is metal clay? Metal clay looks and feels like clay and can be moulded, modelled, rolled and textured just like clay. The clay is made with fine particles of pure silver mixed with a non-toxic organic binder and water. After firing with a torch or kiln, the clay particles burn off leaving real pure silver. Just like magic!

No experience is required and the class is suitable for beginners. Minimum age is 13 and under 16s must be accompanied by a paying parent or guardian.

How long is the class?

The length of the class is approx. 4 to 4.5 hours and includes a 45 minute lunch break to allow the clay to dry. Please bring a packed lunch or visit the Cornhill Village Shop which does lovely filled rolls, pastries and quiches if you'd like to pop in before the class starts. Please note that the class times are approximate and may run longer or shorter.

Fingerprints - things to know:
  • Fingerprints can be taken from children and adults but please note that children under 12 months do not have developed fingerprints so it might be better waiting until they are older.
  • Some people have more defined fingerprints than others so this will affect how your finished piece will look.
  • Larger prints will take up more area of the pendant.
 What’s included?
  • Refreshments: tea/coffee/water & muffins made by our fabulous local shop. Please advise of any dietary requests or allergies at the time of booking and I will try to accommodate them.
  • Use of all tools.
  • 7g of silver clay (or 10g if making a second pendant), jump rings, and 1 sterling silver chain (2 if making a second pendant).  If you have clay left, you can make additional charms.
